Accreditation maintains trust

Whether in terms of confidence and security, free trade, access to markets and opportunities, the benefits of accreditation are manifold. This means that all eyes are on accreditations as a reliable tool for confirming competence. They serve the nation, the economy and consumers alike and make an important contribution to improving the protection of society and environment.

Accreditation confirms that organizations such as inspection and certification bodies can competently conduct their activities in accordance with internationally recognized standards and regulations. This establishes confidence in the important work of these independent conformity assessment bodies and their services in all sectors of the economy.

Importance of accreditation

Accreditation means taking a close look, conducting a thorough study and responsibly evaluating whether others are capable of doing their job well and whether they have earned their trust. Why? Because we all benefit from it.

In almost all areas of our daily lives, assessment services, so-called «conformity assessments», for example in the form of certification, laboratory tests or inspections, play an important role. But can we trust certificates, test reports, or the conclusions they produce?

The credibility of results of these assessment services depends on the reliability and technical ability of the people who provide these services: conformity assessment bodies. Thus, these stakeholders in the private and public sectors verify the quality of their work as part of the accreditation process.

Accreditation means constant control and monitoring

Accreditations are used to assess and regularly monitor technical competence, reliability, independence and integrity of conformity assessment bodies in public interest. This is done through a process of transparent and impartial evaluation by accreditation body.

Interaction between accreditation and conformity assessment ensures that we can count on products, processes and services as the required levels of quality and protection have been carefully verified by competent interested parties.
